We drove a 23' Trail-Lite for 10 years with no toad. It was great to be so agile. Just recently moved into a Class C 25'. We are semi-agile, but the cabover seems to make us lumber. We now tow a Ford Focus.
I really like not towing but I don't feel comfortable leaving my whole house parked a remote trail head, or deconstructing our campsite to move out in the morning all the time. It depends on the trip. Some places we tow and some we don't. The cross-country trip will definitely be with the toad.
Interesting, we also went from a 23' Trail Lite to a 25' C. The cabover impression is probably mostly mental. Those two units are about the same width. The TL was something like 101" wide, unusual for a B+ in that respect. The big difference IMO is the wheelbase. The TL was a short WB and it maneuvered SO easily. I do miss that.
I had actually planned to tow our Focus behind the TL. Now we have the bigger C and I'm still dawdling.
