Reviews for Jayco Class C

We have owned our 2006 Jayco Greyhawk for 11 1/2 years and absolutely LOVE it. Some initial problems were corrected by Jayco under warranty and one slideout problem was corrected at no charge to us even after the warranty expired because they admitted that it was a "factory defect".

We now have 65,000 miles on our motorhome and consider it to be a fine product. We hope that Jayco is continuing to built products of the same quality as our coach and will continue to stand behind their products as they have with ours.

I have a 2015 Greyhawk 31 FS. Very happy overall with it and that includes round trip to Alaska. Biggest downside was the Girard tankless water heater. It is junk and I replaced that finally with a reliable Suburban 6 gallon water heater. I blame Jayco for installing these Girard water heaters even after years of complaints from their customers. I would never accept a MH with anything that is tankless. Just my two cents.

72-cft external storage - See if any compartments are Tall Enough for Oversized items. I can carry a lot of Stuff in Boxes and Buckets but there's no room for a Cooler or BBQ

You are in AZ. What Electrical Service does this have? I saw an optional second A/C. I know "it's a Dry Heat" but I doubt even a 15000 will give you enough cooling. If the second 11000 unit adds 50 Amp Service, then that's a big plus.

Wish it had a Pantry

Find the Weight Sticker inside some Cabinet Door where Jayco states what weight it was when built. This "29" is 30-feet long, and it's gonna be heavy with its three slides. Make sure there's enough capacity for you, your people, your stuff.

Then Weigh It! Go do a truck stop. The Ford sticker in the door jamb shows Axle Ratings. You need to see what the actual weigh IS on the Front Axle, on the Rear Axle.

I rate Jayco at the top end of the "Average Bear" group of RV's. A little below Winnebago, a little higher than Forester/Sunseeker, still higher than Coachmen. Part of my higher rating for Winne, is the way they wire their coaches, and the information/parts support they offer.

We owned a 2009 Jayco Greyhawk 31FS for 8 years. The last few years we camped out of it seasonally (full time during the season). We had a handful of issues handled under warranty. The only real problem we had that was re-occuring was the tri-door shower doors kept failing. We had it addressed under warranty. That fix lasted a few years, but then they failed again. We ended up removing the doors and just using a shower curtain.

We had to replace the IOTA Converter/Charger at 5 years, not really Jayco's fault. The fuel pump for the generator was replaced under warranty, not really Jayco's fault either. There was a handful of other little things that we handled, but overall, we were very happy with our Greyhawk.

If you do go with Jayco, one thing I would suggest before using the motorhome is put teflon tape on every water fitting. The folks at Jayco apparently never heard of it. We had several fittings leak in our Greyhawk and in our current Jayco Bungalow TT. Adding teflon tape to the threads cleared that up. A bouncing motorhome causes all sorts of things to work loose. If someone levels the water pump on while traveling and a fitting works loose, you'll have water somewhere.

Edited to add: Our Greyhawk had 2 slides and was heavy. We got anywhere from 6.5 mpg (in the mountains of GA and SC) to 9 mpg (driving 66 mph on flat interstate highways). Average was probably 7.5 mpg - 8 mpg at the speed limit, which in our neck of the woods is 70 mph on the interstates.

I don't have a 29me, but I know it's a very popular rig, and I think it has a lot of counter space if I'm not mistaken. I have a 31FS. I looked for months at all the different brands. I finally went back to Jayco since I felt their build quality to be better than most. With my new rig, it gets 10 mpg which really surprised me. I got 10 mpg with my 96 22 foot Jayco, but with Fords new transmission it gets the same and I'm 10 foot longer.
