I rode-out the one that was still a hurricane when it came-up through Atlanta in 1995. I sat it out in a 5th wheel trailer, when it came-in overnight. After it came-in, I was not able to get out so I was, in effect, trapped. When I got up in the morning and saw the damage around me, it was evident that staying in the trailer was a very poor idea, and could have gotten me killed. Remember, it's not the wind that kills you, it's what the wind blows that kills you. Trees are especially dangerous, as ae metal buildings and signs. Even though you cannot move the rig, go to a hotel, or barring that, go back and sit it out in the hospital, even if you have to sit in the waiting room.
