Ceiling Fan: Yes, u can start the fan by given the fan a turn and it will start up, but makes a sound and then will stop after a story amount of time.
ok, when it stops are you able to feel the motor. Is it warm or hot to the touch. It sounds like the motor is making a 'sound' because the motors bearings are most likely lacking
lubrication. The motor will run, but when under a load it warms up and will shut off on an internal protector. Once it cools it will run again. I have had these happen to me
and my first choice would be to remove the fan, turn the motor with the shaft turned upward and drop a little 3 in 1 oil on the shaft, turn shaft around a few times, let sit overnight
and re install. If you are handy with jumper wires hook the motor to a 12 volt source and clamp it in a vice and let it run while using a little oil to the shaft. I have disassembled all
types of motors in my career so I just take them apart and service the bearings. bearings are usually the cause of many motor failures.
