Roadmaster Stabilizer addition to my Freightliner Chassis

As a fairly recent convert from a fifth wheeler to a 40' class A, I was having to get used to the amount of steering required. It was like I was afaid to blink, as the coach wanted to crawl all over my traffic lane, especially in windy conditions.

A fellow Phaeton owner told me about this Roadmaster stabilizer. I had to try it. The Stabilizer and RBK18 mounting kit required, cost me about $340 with shipping. It took me about an hour and a half to install. I was immediately impressed. Driving the motor home was like driving my pickup. I do not represent Roadmaster. This is the only Roadmaster item I have ever bought and I'm sure there are others who make similar products that work just as well.

  • Safe-T-Plus has some good videos on the installation on Youtube. The installation is basicly the same as for the Roadmaster I installed. If you have a way to get easy access to the underside of your vehicle it really can be less than an hour to install.

In my case the overhead clearance I worked with was the greatest obstacle. If I were going to approach the job again I would find enough blocking to make it a little roomier. I didn't feel that any adjustment was required after the first test drive. Evidently, this is not the norm.

Just purchased and installed the Saf-T-Plus steering control unit. Will test it out this weekend on a long trip.

  • I had one on a 2012 Vista 30T. I liked it a lot and will add it to my 2016 Suncruiser when it arrives.
