roadmaster tow bar, convert to blue Ox base plates

I would like Install Blue OX, Demco, base plates on new toad.
Can the ends be changed on my road master tow bar?

Thanks,
Chuck

  • That's what I have on my 2010 Pontiac Vibe. Works great without the crossbar, so far 40,000 miles behind my HR Ambassador.
  • Chuck, call Roadmaster before you make your decision. I see that your 2001 Civic takes the EZ bracket, but the 2000 takes the XL bracket. I know my Dodge Dakota took that darn crossbar, but my Nissan Frontier didn't. It seems to me that you could buy the brackets and not use the bar, with the right Roadmaster ends. I never understood the crossbar, but it's probably because they don't feel the car frame is strong enough, yet others will do it without the crossbar.
  • Will check this out.
I have the hidden plates, but have to use crossbar, with pins.

  • There are a couple of models of the Roadmaster base plates. One uses the crossbar and one doesn't. Have you looked to see if they have one that works. I think the more hidden model doesn't use the bar (XL). I hated that crossbar too!
  • Thanks BobGed.

Will be great to not have to use the cross bar.

    Thanks again, Chuck
