Has some ramblings about low clearances for truckers. They mention using the Rand Mcnally Motor Carriers' Road Atlas Deluxe Edition which is slightly over $50 on Amazon and is spiral bound and plastic laminated and has height restricted information in it.
The web site also mentions that the low clearance 11foot8 underpass shown in the Youtube vids I linked to above is in Durham, NC. Also mentioned is that NY state saw over 1400 bridge strikes in 15 years, with 46 in one year in Westchester County alone.
Just be aware you can be held financially responsible and possible even Criminally liable for bridge strikes.
Charles - crassterExplorer IINever an issue for the most part under 14'
- BordercollieExplorerI've seen a few low overpasses near small towns. When in doubt, get out and eyeball to assure enough clearance.
- CharlesinGAExplorerAn RV specific GPS will have data on height restriction overpasses, such as low rail lines and road bridges in it, and will offer routing around them.
Sean Michael of Long Long Honeymoon on Youtube discusses this in his GPS for RV's video

He mentions that the Northeast is full of low overpasses, and I have found a number of them in Illinois also.
Watch this video for what happens when you try to take vehicles that are too high, thru an eleven foot eight underpass. There are quite a few RV's in this along with cargo vans and semi trucks.

Charles - SBradleyExplorerIf you use a GPS most have capability to program in criteria, such as vehicle height & weight.
It then takes that information into consideration in deterring your route.
Rand McNally RV GPS is used in new Winnebago. - stickdogExplorerWe've never had a problem on US highways or anything marked truck route and we're 13'.
- Johno02ExplorerFor a general rule, you can get through anywhere an 18-wheeler, and most school buses can. A Truckers Atlas is a good set of maps. Just watch local streets, and any unpaved roads. National standard for most highways is 14" clearance. Probably good to have an idea of your weight, as weight restrictions are more likely that height.
