I have never had an issue using AAA outside my region. Actually, I've only used AAA once inside my region. When we lived in NJ we needed a tow in PA and once in VA. We had no trouble being out of region. Since moving to GA we've used it in NJ and PA without issue. The one time in PA there was a small delay in relaying from my region to the region that covered where ever I was in PA, but the service was still the same.
I've read posts where people have had issues when out of region. From what I gather, there are parts of the US that have poor AAA coverage and when you are in those areas, that is when there are problems. We have been fortunate that we've never experienced that problem.
