Roof antenna- antenna booster?

We are having trouble getting reception at an RV Park in Jackpot Nevada. It's a new RV. I told my wife that when using the crank up roof antenna that the antenna booster must be on. She swears that the boater button is on only when using cable!

Which is it? The cable at this park does not work, so the roof is it. I think we are too far from any signal
  • Thanks for the confirmation. My wife was sure it was the opposite. She bet me $100 that she was right! I won, she owes me cash! Oh wait..........it's my money too. She conned me again.
  • Great advice and I will add you should look around to see if anyone else has their antenna up and which way it is pointed. There indeed may not be any stations.

This is how my 2008 Trailer setup is using Cable and OTA antenna setups...

My OTA Antenna is a Winegard BATWING with small dipoles on it. Looks like this google image... This antenna does great picking up unobstructed HDTV digital signals in the 60-70 Mile range...

Alot of the new trailers are coming out with these low profile onmi-directional round looking antennas with built-in pre-amplifiers which DO NOT perform very well for picking up long distance HDTV signals...

  • If your Antenna is a Winegard, the booster MUST be ON. If it is a Jensen, the Booster has a 3 position switch--- OFF---CABLE---ANTENNA. It must be in the Antenna mode. Doug
  • In jackpot there are no stations you can probably receive. There are several apps / web sites to find locations of local tv towers. Twin falls ID are the nearest major towers to you it looks like. There are some to the south near Wells Nv also.
  • Booster ON to boost over the air tv signal. The actual booster is in the head of the Winegard antenna, NOT behind the wall. Booster OFF to prevent interference with cable signal.
  • Crank up antenna
For TV channels.....booster ON (turn off when using cable)

Antenna then needs to AIMED (head of antenna pointed towards TV Transponder Towers
TV input set to AIR or Antenna
    TV Auto Scan for channels

Looks like 2 transmitters to the north (14* compass heading) BUT are 65 miles away.......due to terrain probably unavailable

    Antenna Direct......helps AIM
