Roof coating? difference between liquid roof and kool seal?

I looked at both products online, I'm considering recoating my 99 holiday rambler endeavor gasser. A 5 gallon pail of liquid roof is nearly $400 while Kool seal is $150 or less. Are these products similar in their purpose? Lots of tiny cracked areas on the roof, not sure if it is pvc or fiberglass roof

Not recommended for EDPM roofs. Wondering, how many years have gone by since you applied this product? I was very impressed with it until I read the specs for rubber roofs.

To the OP, Liquid roof is long term and can handle puddles. Kool Seal is 2-4 years and can not handle puddles. Reason for the price difference.
  • Hi,

I put on the expensive stuff. Material cost is not nearly as significant as application costs, if your time is worth anything. And you DO NOT want a small leak.. ..

The prices might have gone up, they move around with the material costs.

Personally I would not want to apply any coating that is not a two part product. If it comes out of the pail, and can be applied directly, it probably will not do well if you have a puddle on the roof, and the material soaks in water for say 30 days straight.

The two part product hardens in 55F+ weather, and cures in about a week when it is warm out. Once applied, some water can rest on this stuff, and once cured, it can sit there all month, no way to get inside!

    Good luck!

    Fred.
  • You get what you pay for. My favorite is Gaco Roof. Cost about $275 for 5 gallons.

    Best I have found.
  • There's a fiberglass based product for seriously deteriorated roofs. I don't know the name but a google search should bring something up. It is a very think coating, and you can't move your Moho for a couple days.
