Roof or A/C leak 2013 Jayco Seneca....

Man, this stinks.

Just had the MH (2013 Jayco Seneca) outside about 2 weeks ago (normally parked in my shop). The MH was parked on a slight upward incline, maybe 1% grade. Walked inside and my feet got wet. Looked down and saw water on the wood flooring (in the glare from the sunlight). The carpeted area by the booth was soaked. Did a little more investigating and touched the bed, it was soaked in one spot under the a/c main grille.

I looked up and at both air units there was water dripping slightly into the rv. I wiped up the water on the floor and noticed that now the wood flooring is buckled up at the seams, from the water no doubt.

I pulled it back into the shop and put my large fans on the water areas and pulled up the bed and put a fan on it.

we had a trip planned so we took the thing on the trip. Unfortunately it rained. This time, with the rv mostly leveled (it had a slight tilt to the right) the water came out of the front most circular vent but I was able to put a trash can to catch the water. This vent is just behind the seam where the cab over cone meets the box.

I took off the vent and unscrewed it. the headliner vinyl must have caught the leak and the vent just happened to be the low point where the water entered. I kind of squeegeed the layer of foam just above the head liner and got most of the water out. I then took plastic forks (all I had) and stuck a few of them sideways in the hole and then taped up the vent hole and put the a/c on to dry out the foam and plywood around where it leaked. This did seem to dry it out well.

I got up on the roof today and to me it is impossible to determine if there is a hole in that sealant (which is like 2" wide and just glopped on the seam). The thing is about 8 months old (in my possession at least) and it seems odd that it would leak already.

Questions:

1. Is this a warranty issue?

2. How would they fix it properly? I've seen things on here about seam tape or something. (I'm fairly handy and I think I could accomplish this but to me it would really void any warranty).

3. Do you think it is the same leak and it just migrates or am I dealing with multiple leaks?

4. Should they be willing to fix the wood flooring? This is a nightmare to me because I know the issue of fixing an interlocking wooden floor (I build houses for a living).

5. Should we be asking for mold remediation?

6. If I take it to Camping world should I notify Jayco directly so they can inspect etc?

7. Should incline matter when it comes to leaking? Seems to me that if you were driving and were going up hill (etc) in a storm the MH would need to be able to not leak...

I'm kind of ticked because I am about to hit my first summer and we're going to need this thing A LOT over the next 2-3 months, including 10 days from now...
  • Let me clarify,

These leaks were all after or during a moderate rain storm.
  • You bought it brand new 8 months ago? It's under warranty. Take it back to the dealer and let them fix it. Don't hesitate.
  • Texan21,
Just took my brand new 37FS into the dealer today for a leak repair. Ours has 360 miles on it and has not even been on its first trip.

I have a video I can send you a link to if you want to Private message me. Ours was leaking between the cab and the box too. It leaked behind the panels on the sides of the opening between the cab and the house. The are leather covered panels right behind the two captain's chairs. I had them off because I was doing some new wiring (installed a DVD player so the family could use it going down the road), and when I had the panels off, I could hear the water dripping in those cavities. One day it was raining and one day the water was coming from the A/C units.

I will post what they do to repair. I am assuming this is all under warranty.
