Down here you used to be able to get used restaurant oil for free, or very cheap. Then the inevitable happened........people started advertising how they could take the oil and use it for fuel. Once that happened, the used oil became a valuable commodity and the restaurant owners now look at it as a profit source. Right now, new fresh oil is selling for only a few pennies more than the used oil.
One other problem is that once you have exhausted your first tank of veggie oil. then what? You have to fill up just like everyone else unless you limit your travels to a small radius around your home base.
That sucks for veggie oil users alright. I have the advantage of living in a oil and gas industry town. About 95% of the people in town work in the industry and would risk losing their credibility if not their jobs if they were running their truck on veggie. Plus if they work in the oil patch most of them have their fuel paid by their company so they don't care how much they use nor would they care to convert to veggie oil.
But that's why I want to use an oil press/extruder to make my own oil. See my other post for links on eBay. I can get canola seed much easier than I can get used oil and its cleaner fuel.
