I was thrown off by your assertion that you were going to process your own from seed. Guess not, huh?
Hmm, well that could a sticking point for sure. Canola seed isn't the only option for producing oil, but looks like it might take a much cheaper source of oil to be practical... hmm, dandelions? I can grow an acre of those, no problem!
Maybe I was going off old figures but last time I worked this out, canola wasn't nearly that expensive. Gonna have to go back and recheck that math.
EDIT: Looks like I should just buy the crude veggie oil. Even at 1220 for a tonne, it works out to 5.12 a gallon, while Im paying 5.68 a gallon at the pump. Highway robbery!
