When I looked into this, the cost of fresh oil was prohibitive to make it work out. Perhaps you could make fresh oil and sell it to the local chinese restaurant for $5.00 per gallon under the condition that they give it back to you for free. Of course you will lose some to the actual food, but maybe you can recover 70% of what you sell.
The reason the math works out on used cooking oil is that two people get to use it rather than one.
Thanks for the encouragement. You've come up with an angle I've never considered - selling food grade oil then buy it back. Smart. Sounds like the plausible way to secure the supply. Also I've read the meal that results from the remainder of the crushed canola is valuable as feed for pets and farm animals. So there's more to whole picture.
