Some MH's have bus air in the basement, which provides ducted cool air to the coach. It is quieter but less efficient then roof air. It's less efficient because it's picking up warm air from the road and cooling it. It's also a bear to fix if it dies since it's buried down in the basement.
Roof air is less expensive, cheaper to repair or replace and is typically noisier but when properly designed not very noisey.
Dash air really only works to cool the driver - even in a Prevost.
We run dash air and 1 or 2 roof air's off the alternator - no generator. If it's really hot (Florida in the summer) we run the generator and 4 roof air's plus the dash air.
