according to my rv dealer you will save money by running the house ac and turning off the dash ac which increases mpg.
You'll probably lose weight, too, because you'll be sweating your a$$ off. :)
When we bought our 1990 Winnebago Warrior about 6 years ago the cab AC didn't work. We tried just running the house AC but the driver was just miserable. We even tried rigging up a fan to blow air from the house into the cab with very marginal success.
Your cab heat and air should work fine to keep people in the cab cool or warm without any funny curtains. I would not want a curtain in my RV because it would block my view out my rear view mirror, from which I can see out my rear window/Fresnel lens. If I had a curtain it would have to have a hole in it to see through with the mirror.
After we park we have a relatively heavy privacy curtain we put up to isolate the cab from the house and this helps keep cool/warm air in the house and out of the cab.
