If you have some extra time it was always neat for us to go to the SEDONA area and wake up looking at the sun hit some of the red rocks around their mtns...
Flagstaff also has some good camping north on 89.. Just don't stay near the East/West railroad. There will be a loud train about every 5 minutes all night long...
We always type in CAMPING into google maps when in strange areas. Then you can find where all the good campgrounds are at.
