My dad had a 1979 Class C in 1992. He went through it and replaced brakes, some engine parts and a new exhaust system. The rig caught fire on the PA Turnpike. He saw the smoke in the mirror and got out OK (was traveling alone)but the rig burned to the ground in a few minutes. Insurance company investigated and discovered that the new exhaust system touched bare wood without a shield. Lesson......make sure RV savvy technicians work on your rigs. Then, double check things where fire safety may be a factor.
