RV Fire Safety

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MkJr_a2LWY
Has anybody here ever awakened to a fire alarm to find your motorhome engulfed in flame and smoke? I have been in a structure fire before and know first hand how traumatic and confusing a fire can become. This is a topic I think about at times, we have two small children and I feel strongly that I need to be as ready as possible. We have had fire drills and such, My wife and I sleep in the rear bedroom while the two girls sleep midship, question is, do I have them retreat towards the bedroom or to the front door? I assume most fires start in the kitchen, this is near where my children sleep, I just watched the above video from Mac the Fire Guy.

Anyway, I think this concern is a good topic for discussion.

  • Thanks, that's a great video. I'm packing up to leave now and will be going over with DW what she should do. I have made it a point to know where my keys and other things are but I'm also going to pack my small back pack with needed items. Good post
  • When our Son was young and old enough to think for himself, it was always get out ASAP and not worry about anyone else. Our drill involved us then meeting outside the house at a specified location. This was in a single story house where each bedroom had an exit window. On the RV, the wife and I both sleep together right in front of the exit window.
  • Have them retreat away from fire and get out ASAP.

Best to have them come to you and ALL exit together so that no one goes missed.
