According to the Caltrans website, the lowest clearance of any bridge on any state highway or state route in California is 13'4".

Do I ever get off the freeway? I guess that depends on if you can read what I wrote. You claim there are 10'6" clearance bridges all over the place, including California. Please find me one in California. The link you posted is in North Carolina and the bridge in question is 11'8" which is even the name of the website.

Yes, we have some back east... This is on state route 58 in Jamestown, Pa.

We have a Rand McNalley 7710. It has kept us out of trouble many times. City of Spokane, WA has a number of underpasses that would take the top off of my MH

For that tout Microsoft Streets & Trips (since I've never used it). Will it warn you about low over-head passages (ie overpasses/underpasses)? Will it warn you about roads unsuitable for the length or weight of your rig (ie weight restrictions on bridges)?
All of the RV/Trucker GPS's will do that.

I got curious and went to the MS Q&A about S&T and their answer is no. It doesn't not support height or weight restrictions on roads. So it will gleefully take you down a road with a 10'6" overpass, when you are 11' tall....

Where would you find a 10'6" overpass? I've never seen one on a road or highway. Do those things exist back east?

No it's not an RV specific GPS. I do have the Magellan that is the RV/Trucker GPS, but I don't use it a lot and probably won't use it all now that I have this smart GPS. The RV GPS has the big screen which is nice, but as best I could tell it operated mostly the same way as the smaller units. I don't recall being able to program it for vehicle height or length. I don't really have the need to do that. I know how high my motorhome is and the only places I have chances of running into trouble are low tress and obstructions in parking lots and other off road places that wouldn't be covered by the GPS anyway.

I have a Garman ... works fine. I should get it updated.

We use Garmin 3597LMTHD with voice command, which is great. Tells you lanes to use for exiting interstates, lifetime maps, traffic updates, and the usual other stuff like points of interest, etc. Couldn't live without it.
