  • I have mine insured through the Hartford insurance recommended by AARP. Fact I have three other vehicles insured through them.
  • One of the many reasons car insurance goes up is the cost of repairs. Cars are much more complex than ever with more air bags, backup cameras, electronics. It is almost impossible to get a wreck without the car being totaled. Not because of the sheet metal damage, but because of everything else. Lots of tornadoes, major storm damage, floods, fires, are all wreaking havoc and this has to be paid for by all insureds through premiums. So your own driving or home record may be excellent, but rates will still rise.
  • I hear you and it is not because you live in California. I live in another western state and my insurance is on the upswing especially on the motor home and toad. Three hundred this year alone and that's with no tickets, accidents or claims of any kind.
I have State Farm on my other vehicles and they are on the increase as well. Every 6 months they raise their premium. Again there are no claims or traffic tickets. I have been shopping my insurance needs around and the differences if any that I have found are small. I just took the premium notice for the home insurance out of the mail box on Monday this week and that's up 10%. That is with State Farm too. When I question them their only reply is that it's going up every where or all our customers here are seeing raises in their insurance. Their only solution is to offer to cheapen your coverage dollars.
My shopping experience indicates to me that they are all on the same page as far as pricing goes. I am wondering if their is collusion and price fixing going on in the industry?

Time for you to shop around!!!!

Why? I get decent rates on all our stuff, local agent who knows us and treats us like a person, not a number. Being we are part owner I see no reason to change to something worse!
  • Hello, I use Progressive and found out last week that you can raise your deductables to 5000.00 when you are not traveling. When you start again it is just a call and you will save a bundle. If you full time, this will not work. But it's something to maybe give some thought to.
