Your state Department of Insurance regulates what they can and can't do!!! You can file a complaint: http://www.michigan.gov/difs
All insurance companies are a racket. They have a license to steal IMHO. - emzeeExplorerI have State Farm for our cars and home and our 2004 National Tropical. I think the Motorhome is around $1000 a year for full coverage. hope this helps.
Also GoodSam wanted at least another $1000 for the same coverage. They were trying to tell me that GoodSam was a better choice for an RV because you could pause it and not be charged. Even paused it was more. - balfre1946ExplorerOK thanks for hte comments..I got it..no more lectures please!
- RayChezExplorerI changed from Victoria Insurance to a AARP recommended insurance called The Hartford. And it is quit a bit lower then the previous two insurances I had before. But I can not tell you how they would be IF I ever turn in a claim. The jury is still out on this one. The previous two were pretty good insurances. One was Interstate and victoria. Both good BUT more expensive then the Hartford.
- PastorCharlieExplorerInsurance cost depends upon the value of the vehicle, contents, type and amount of coverage, drivers history, state rates, etc.
One size does not fit all.
Of course it cost less to insure a $25,000 vehicle than a $250,000 vehicle and it cost less for $60,000 coverage than for $500,000 coverage. - et2Explorer

I've been happy with Progressive. When I shopped around they had the best rate. I got good service from them when I filed a claim from a "not my fault" accident.
We just purchased our first MH about 2 weeks ago. The dealer said they could get us a better rate with Progressive than our current State Farm on our RV and 2012 Jeep Sport. Their "quote " was initially better at $2800 per year for both.
When we signed the papers ( they were given all our car & driving history up front) on the MH and started on the insurance red flags came up??? My wife was in a accident last year ( not her fault). They changed the rate to the motorhome to $3800 per year & $3000 on the Jeep.
Of course they took my initial deposit of over $1000 to get it started before the "red flags" came up. I told them Progressive was nuts if they thought I would pay that. They said I could cancel and get a full refund. That was over two weeks ago. They had zero problems charging my credit card in 30 seconds. Still waiting for the check.
I have State Farm, insurance for the new MH is 1800 for the year. Big difference. Progressive doesn't seem to like claims. Even not at fault claims.

The State Insurance Commissioner where your register your RV and buy your insurance determines your rates. They can't raise rates without his/her permission.

Yes I do mind as it would be absolutely meaningless........you are you and I am me.
Different driving history, ages, credit history, addresses, different vehicles, different coverages, etc.
Rates for you will be different using SC vs FL.
There is no 'apples to apples' when it comes to Insurance.
Best thing is to call, go on-line and get quotes from the various Ins. Companies posted for YOU and Your needs.
