RV Mask Bra

Trying to install a new RV Mask/Bra and am not sure how the nails provided works on a fiberglass Class A Motorhome. The instructions states that I need to drill hole into fiberglass and screw snaps down except I do not know how nails 1 1/2 inches long can hold without pulling out or pierce electrical or water lines. In fact the nail sticks out 1/2 at the head so that snaps would not work. It seems that the package should have provided screws. How does the nails work?

  • I agree with others, what you must have are pop rivets. Go to UTube and put in Pop Rivets and you'll find several videos on how to use them. Here's one.

Installing rivets isn't hard, but it might be tricky to get them spaced correctly so your bra isn't too tight or loose. If it is, you'll have to drill out the rivets (there are Utube videos on that also) and install them again. The only problem with that is it's going to leave a lot of holes in the front of your MH. If you have doubts, take it to a tent & tarp awning place, a boat canvas place or a MH shop to have it done.

  • Those "nails" are called pop rivets. You drill a hole the size of the large end, insert the rivet thru the snap and into the hole you drilled and use a special tool to pop the long portion of the pop rivet thru the large end causing it to swell and lock the snap into place. The pop rivet tool can be purchased at any home center.
  • you need to get one of those air type nail guns to install, hold it up to the front of the coach, and shoot away
  • I think those nails might be pop rivets. hopefully someone can help you out more.
