RV parks California coast

We stayed here.


This is a nice park, near Legoland where we took our grandson this past summer.

It's about a five minute walk to the ocean. You will need to make reservations soon.

x2 on Paradise by the Sea in Oceanside.

Look at Dockweiler Beech near LAX, it's right on the beach and the beach is nice.

San Clemente State Beach.
Doheny State Beach..Dana Point...right on the sand, but space limitations.
San Onofre State Beach.
Camperland in San Diego. On the bay, not the ocean.
Newport Dunes in Newport Beach...a bit on the pricey side.
Surf City...Bolsa Chica State Beach, Huntington By the Sea and Sunset RV...all by the pier and within walking distance of Huntington Beach.

All overlooking the water, except Doheny which is only steps to the water, and the ones in Huntington Beach which are also on the water..well, Sunset is across the street......Dennis

I'd throw in Pismo Sands at Pismo Beach. Nice park about a 10 min walk down a trail to the ocean.

A real sleeper of a campground that few know about, partially because it is very new. Located in Laguna Beach, just off of PCH. Easy access to the ocean, though not ON the ocean. Very new, very beautiful. Shhhh...don't tell anyone!

I like Malibu Beach RV Park. Great views. A wonderful seafood take away at bottom of hill. Close to Malibu restaurants and other and short ride to Santa Monica. Pretty easy drive when not in rush hour. Some folks have complained about the enforcement of rules but I have not had any difficulty and found management to be helpful.

Pismo and Malibu are NORTH of L.A.

The state parks are likely already reserved. In the S.D. area, my first choice is the adult park Bernardo Shores in Imperial Beach - but think Coronado. Second is Chula Vista RV, but they will be packed if they still do the Christmas light thing. I avoid Woodstock - the nickname for Camperland. Mission Bay RV would be okay, this time of year but is a distant third. Check the Oceanside RV parks for a rig your size. And certainly check rvparkreviews.com. Might also check some of the parks in the general area of Disneyland. Truth is, that So Cal Real estate, especially anywhere near the beach, is too pricey for RV parks. Case in point, Bernardo Shores RV will likely be a very pricey condo complex before too very long.

Stayed there ONCE several years ago with grandchildren. $150/night ($450 for three nights!) - picnic table falling apart - spot so narrow awning reached the adjoining camp spot - and signs along the bay warning of polution and hazardous swimming - and the campground was full. My wife and I had many words over her reserving and paying $450 in advance. This is one of those experiences we relate often as it was (and is) by far the most expensive 3 days of camping we've ever enjoyed in our over 45 years of RV'ing.
