Planning a trip to Alexandria VA. Has anyone had a good camping experience in this area? Thanks for all comments

Take a look at Mason Neck Park. It is part of the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority. I just drove through there the other day because I was at a job right around the corner. It's a really nice place with access to the Potomac River. It is about twenty minutes out of Old Town Alexandria and very close to Mount Vernon.
