Millions?????.....maybe thousands of the LRIM's. You make the "heat sensor" sound like something they added as a bonus for their customers. It wasn't, it was a shut down device that went through at least 8 revisions before they quit failing, to prevent the refer from catching fire. During the same time that all the issues were occurring, they never changed the design and continued to build them with the thin piping.
Again, glad yours is working well, I liked mine too, when it was cooling properly, but that was a rare occasion. And I know with a certainty that your refer doesn't stay at 38 degrees on a 90 degree plus travel day. I just got tired of having to pack it perfectly and hope that it cooled down overnight when it was hot out. Maybe it was more of an issue with west coast coaches because we see more outside heat, more often.
Don I go to Las Vegas a lot because I have a daughter that lives there, and in the summer it gets pretty hot. So when I say that my Norcold stays at 38 degrees, that is what it is. Now you can adjust how cold that refrigerator cools by moving the thermistor up or down. If your fridge is not cooling enough with the knob control, just move the thermistor up an inch and you will see a difference.
But I do have a friend in Florida that had problems with the cooling on his Norcold and what he found was that the door had a slight twist and the seal was not sealing proper. So maybe that is what you might have had if it could not maintain 38 degrees. Actually I had set it where it was down to 34 degrees and the wife complained that things were starting to where it was almost freezing. So I had to readjust the thermistor.
