RV Safety Course

Never heard of one. A great idea. Newbies have a few things to learn and most do it through trial and error. A class would be a better safer way. So many folks just do not know how to back up or park. Often folks learn the hard way about why a black tank should be closed until dumped etc,.

I understand Lazy Days rv in Tampa offers driving classes for mtorhomes, or TT's.
Not sure if other dealers offer this.
My girlfriend should/wants to learn to drive with our TT on the back.
Bet it would be a lot less stressful for her to learn from anyone other than me. :)

AMEN to that. My wife doesn't drive our A. She wants to learn.

Lazy days does it. You can stay at their CG and take it. You have to schedule the camping around the safety course not the course around the camping dates.

I personally think Walmart should make a mandatory shopping cart safety course.

Just wanted to mention.... AARP offers a Safe Driving course on the computer for about $22 (for non-members) and $18 for members. It's an 8 hr. computer course covering 6 units (sessions). You can start and stop the course at your leisure and resume it when it works in your schedule but you have to get it done within 30 days.

I took about a week going through the course a couple of hours a night. It saved my $1,000 a year on the motorhome insurance with additional a savings on the cars. The certificate is good for 3 yrs. and I have every intention to take the course again in the future.

I actually found it interesting. At 56 yrs. old, there were a couple of things I had forgotten and it was nice to be refreshed. This is not a pass/fail thing, you just have to complete the course.

We took the Lazy Days course and while it was beneficial I don't think it would replace one on one comprehensive training. It consisted of a couple hours of classroom instruction and some demo in a Class A, then each of 10-12 students (there was a limit on the number) drove the Class A around the RV park for about 5 minutes each - right turns, left turns, driving forward and pulling into a rest area type parking spot - no backing or on the road driving. I think it's real purpose is to show prospective buyers that they can learn to drive one. I don't think anyone felt roadworthy yet.

The wife and I took the class at Lazy Days. As stated by others, it was brief and had little driving. But the classroom time was both informative and helpful. About half a dozen video segments are available online. And my insurance company accepted the course for a discount.

You saved $1,000! Heck, my A insurance is half that if you are talking about pl/pd.
