RV toliet

i replaced my thetford 2 years ago. last year the PLASTIC flush mechanism snapped and had to be replaced. 3 days later the thing snapped again. I went to my friendly RV supply store with the issue.
he told me they no longer carry thetford toilets because they are plastic parted junk. he does carry repair parts and does a thriving business. bought a dometic and could not be happier.

I can second wildmanbaker's account of needing a shut off valve. That's how I found out I didn't do a good enough job winterizing my first rig. First time out in spring the entire bath and bedroom carpet was soaked. Same deal, the flush valve was shot.

Here something to think about, put a shut-off valve in the water line. for future work/leak. This spring, we were on our way home and stopped for the night in Shasta Lake. Had finished setting up and was trying the Wi-Fi when DW walked by the bath heard a hissing. Water was spraying from the back of the toilet. Found the water flush valve on the back of the toilet had a pin hole leak, so we spent the night without water, using a small bucket for flushing the toilet. Found an outlet that had RV parts, including toilets and valves. As it turned out, none of the valves looked like the one that was leaking on ours, and the new toilets were all the tall ones and we needed a short one. I was directed to an ACE that had shark fittings and acquired two, 1/2" valves. Installed a valve and we had water in the MH for the next week and 1/2. This was one of the lines that I had not installed a valve on yet, well we do now. If you have the toilet off and do not have a shut-off valve on it, now would be a good time for insurance. Almost all S&Bs have shut-off valves on almost everything. There is a reason.

Why a toilet is a toilet and the question can be answered just as it was asked.

Toilet swaps are pretty easy, though the working space around it might be a little cramped. When I replaced my Thetford in my old rig I just called their toll free number, told them the model toilet I had and they then told me what would be the direct replacement models based on the mount hole and bolts on the floor of my rig. Worked out perfectly

I replaced the toilet in my previous coach before I sold it. The original was mounted on a base that raised its height to standard ADA height. I wanted the same height, so I used this one:

Thetford 42058 Aqua Magic Style II Toilet, High / White

It was easy to replace, and fit perfectly. It came with a new seal.

That is on my list of updates and repairs.

My RV has two toilets, a macerator in the "Full bath" and a "Sea/Land" type gravity in the half that's the one I need to replace.

Now if you are replacing, between the two types above you really have no choice. You must use the same type. though there is quite a selection of "Sea/Land" types (Tetford, Dometic and more)>

The only real choice is "Round" Seat or "Oval" Go with Oval.

We put in a Thetford Aqua-Magic Residence which is a little higher than standard.
