RV Water Softener

Hi all,
Planning on getting a water softener prior to our trip out west this summer. I am looking at the Flow-Pur RV 10,000 that sells for $192.00. It says it will do the job and I do use their products in my internal filter system. Our friends have all spent a lot more money for their softener systems. Does anyone have any recommendations for a particular model/brand or has anyone had any experience with the one I previously mentioned. Input will be greatly appreciated.
  • waste of money, hard water can't harm you, dirty water & chlorine can.

I use a double 4x10, the first has 10 micron sediment, the 2nd has 10 micron carbon block( not just carbon)

I can drink the water anyplace.
  • We had to get the Watts RVPro-1000 because of the hard water in KS was spotting our new shower doors and faucets were getting crusty. It came from Amazon. So far it's working good.

Come Spring, we'll try to figure out how to install in the basement since we now have it in an insulated trash can wrapped in heat tape to protect it from the cold.
  • Been using the Mark 8000 unit for almost 7 years and love it. This year I'm replacing the resin that I purchased from Flow-Pur for 48 bucks free shipping. I was surprised the resin charge weighed 30 lbs.
  • That's the exact unit I use. I had an older one that was a pain to recharge and I finally quit using it. I always missed it so when I saw this and it's recharged using #2 of table salt I thought I would give it a try. It works great and I average doing a recharge around once every month or 2, just when ever the water no longer feels soft. I think it's great and for those who have them and enjoy them, this ones really simple to setup and use.
The only issue I had with the system is that the included "Y" connector, which is also used during the recharge cycle to limit flow, broke almost right away. I replaced it with a metal version and I just partially open the on/off valve to create the same limited flow.
  • I have the Portable Water Softener & Conditioner from CW. I have used it since we wre in Navada in 05. Still works great!
