RVIA Pomona too expensive

Just received my email invitation to the RVIA Pomona RV show. This year it will be $15 per person, it doesn't mention the parking at Fairplex which starts at $10 or more. With so many RV dealers in the Los Angeles area offering free "shows" or just having a regular presents, not sure how many will pay $40 a couple or more a family to walk in the heat and see 1,400 RVs, only a handful in the type of interest.

    Good point!
  • It may sound expensive if all you're doing is trying to combat boredom. However if you intend to make an RV purchase in the near future it's a small price to pay to visit all the different makes and models available. You might even be able to pick the brains of a few factory reps to get their opinions on specific makes and models, and even get some insight as to what's coming down the pipe.

The price to visit the show is less than a couple cheap tickets to a professional baseball game, less than half the price of a single ticket to a pro basketball game, and wouldn't even pay the parking at most NFL games.

If you want expensive look up what it costs for an evening dinner and a Broadway play. For the price of an evening in NYC you could take your wife and 50 of your closest friends to the RV show and still have a couple hundred dollars left over for beer to wash down the bad BBQ sandwiches.
  • Yeahbut....
Where else can you get some of the worst "BBQ" sandwiches on the planet only to eat standing up in either rain or 90 degree sun? Is that worth the price...?
  • We already own a Class A diesel pusher, but we attend the show every year because we find it entertaining. The new rigs are beautiful and we like strolling through the vendor hall as well. We always receive discount coupons, but I can't recall how they get to us. When they come in I'll try to post so more folks might be able to find the discounts, too.

  • You may be able to get free entrance tickets by going to one of the big local RV dealers.

The good thing about the RVIA show is besides dealers there are usually representatives from the RV manufacturers. You'll see a better variety of RVs in one place vs. a dealer show.

I agree it's hard to justify the cost... look for free tickets.
