RV/Motorhome Parks/Campgrounds

This is a good one.

I like CampsitePhotos.com.

I use this site for finding National Forest campgrounds suitably located and sized for a rig like ours. After reading about it, I do a google earth search for that campground and look it over from the air. Very beneficial most of the time.

Eric Edwards, web master of this site is constantly adding/ updating info. His photographer/ blogger, Greg, is a pro. Eric has an open mind, welcomes suggestions.

I start out using Microsoft Streets and Trips. Then if I find something that's near, say the main highway I'm traveling on, I do an internet search to look at pics and read reviews. Usually, that's more up to date than any of the books. I also go to Google and do a search for "Rv parks, XXX town, state".....xxx means name the town and state. I also will search for campgrounds rather than rv parks. It's according to how the business lists themselves.

I know of no one site that has collected facility maps from commercial RV parks. RV Park Reviews usually has a link to the facility's website, if it has one. If there is no map on the facility's own site, it is not likely there is one online anywhere.

For public campgrounds, state parks, COE and forest service, I find I have to collect park and campground layouts individually. If a park has reservations by site (many public CGs do not) there will be a schematic layout for reservable sites on the reservation system.

Another vote for rvparkreviews.com. It seems to have the largest selection of reviewed campgrounds, a usable search function, a mostly usable map selection tool, and mostly accurate summary of campsite amenities. It's really my first go-to source for campground information.

One caution, though: I've found that there's something of an art form in extracting relevant information from the reviews. The ratings can get badly skewed in either direction. Downward bias seems to arise from postings by perennial grumps who slam a campground because of some real or imagined offense. For me, the most common source of upward bias arises from reviewers who value campground amenities (such as those found at "RV resorts") over a quiet and peaceful campground experience. Your preferences may vary, obviously, so you'll need to be discerning.

I actually find that trip-planning, with a ridiculous amount of online research and evaluation, is quite an enjoyable experience in itself. Good luck and have fun.

I agree that trip planning is 1/2 the fun sometimes as the trip (skip)
My main search is to be able to open the map find the road you are on and the destination you are going and then pick your rv resort or camp ground listed along the way.
I will look into the sites suggested here.

Now if anyone is still reviewing this post. My wife and I are flying to Atlanta to pick up our new Newmar Mtn Aire. We leave tomorrow arrive into Atlanta rent a car and drive to the dealership. We confirm the mh and go through the delivery. Spend two nights at Stone Mtn RV Resort. If we need to return to the dealer for clarity or problems they vow to drop what they are doing to accomidate.
For my question: we will tr4avel up I 24 toward Paduca, Ky. Any suggestions for a nice rv resort. Then we will travel toward Topeka, Ks any suggestions near there?
