Sanatizing fresh water

I recently spoke with an RVer who was adamant that bleach was the worst thing in the world to sanitize the fresh water system. Said it destroyed rubber seals. He said hydrogen peroxide was a better sanitizer, with no ill side effects. Anyone ever heard of this?

Thanks
  • I know the clorox toilet tablets will cause the rubber tank gasket to fail faster, but look at the concentration!!!

A quarter cup to a hundred gallons isn't very strong. Probably 90 percent of the countries city water supplies are disinfected with chlorine. Can't be all that bad in low concentrations.

    Just sayin'

how many pint bottles of 4% H2O2 would be necessary to adequately fill/flush your system? $$$$ worth. surface sterilization in the pharmaceutical industry is with 30% solution. anybody who has diluted the hydrogen peroxide and claims sanitization really didn't need sanitization in the first place.
there are lots of previous threads on this, do a search.
