We are getting our Hughesnet for our mobile system for $79.99/month from Real Time Communications. The tech support is better than we used to get from Motosat and 3 of 4 installer/dealers we have used in the past 7 years. This morning our Millenicom is spastic. Hughesnet via a fixed dish antenna is slower, but more stable, under our RV canopy in Mission Texas.

If you use satellite internet I would recommend using a VAR instead of Hughes Directly. The one I recommend is MobilSat in Va. Beach. The service starts at $79.99/month for about 100K up and 1MB down. Faster services are available but larger automatic pointing antennas are required.

Since you are from Canada the issue is somewhat different for you. For the rest of us, Canada and data is a real problem.

I can speak for Canada and USA and say that I've never been without affordable internet. I have had 100% ability to connect as well, so coverage is, at least for me, not an issue. In Canada I have 18 gigs available to me per month, after which I would be throttled to 512k down (I don't remember the up). In USA I've used Verizon in the past but would look seriously at Mellenicom.

This is too broad of a sweeping statement. While I agree that most RVers don't need satellite internet, there remain many that do. You have to determine how important an internet connection at your RV is to you and where you will be traveling. In AK, Canada or Mexico satellite internet might be your only option (or only affordable option).
