We we fulltime and have both the Millenicom MiFi and a Datatastorm automatic internet satellite antenna with a Hughes HN7000s Modem mounted on the roof of our Phaeton.
The MiFi through Millenicom is much better and faster than our 7 year old Merlin Verizon Aircard with unlimited service was. The aircard had gotten way too slow and seldom stayed connected to the internet, so we replaced it. We were having a bit of trouble with our Hughesnet access via the Datastorm last spring and "paused" the service for six months while on a trip to Alaska in our B+.
We really thought about not resuming the Hughesnet Service on our return as many have done, and didn't until we returned to south Texas for the winter. We park under a steel 36'x44' canopy on our lot in Mission Texas and the Datastorm is blocked from view of the sky so we figured it was done for. But once we were set up many of the old problems we had with the old Merlin Aircard returned, so the canopy appears to contribute to the problem.
We have a "Texas Room" on our lot where I had mounted a Hughesnet residential dish previously and could move the modem and router to that location from the RV after setting up. So I called our satellite internet provider for the mobile Hughes Modem, Real Time Communication. We did some trouble shooting and felt activating my back up modem was warranted. My wife and I both are on the Hughes HN7000S modem at present. We did experience reception problems earlier this week with on the satellite dish, however it appears to have been weather related. At present it has been more consistent in connection, speed, an fewer screen "freeze-ups" than the Millenicom MIFI, which we haven't even bothered to turn on this morning.
