satalite problems

Motosat since end of march 2013 Is out of business,

I had a Kingdome. It was garbage. I now have a Motosat. It works perfect

You may want to take off the dome cover and check for loose connections. I had the same problem with my K/D and I found the compass board was unplugged. It is a two wire connector that plugs into a small circuit board near the top of the dish. Good Luck

sometimes it needs to be ,reset, there is a procedure for that,
suggest you go to kingdome web site and download it, also if you call them they are very helpful

Ok after saying I did not have a problem with my KD.
Today I did. Was only getting reception on one tuner on DirecTv rec.
After a little searching. I found if I unplug the KD from power. Than plug back in.
It reset and worked fine.
Before that the control panel was not giving me the info on its screen.

When all these "business" assumptions reside, it's pretty simple to see that when things don't work, they don't work, PERIOD! While our K/D still actually works, it's search system works but, it's the "lock" that doesn't. When it actually quits receiving the satellite signal, I will then do one of two things, I'll go back to my little stand alone tri-pod dish which, worked flawless when I didn't know about the K/D trick to manually lock it on the bird or, I'll got to the Traveler. I'll deal with it when the time comes.

I can pretty much guaranty you that the type of "dish" in the pile has to do with profit margin not the quality of a particular system. If the RV shop is a K/D dealer and gets the long deal plus other possible price breaks based on being a stocking dealer, warehousing dealer/distributor, etc he is going to sell you a K/D not a Traveler. The opposite will occur if he meets the Traveler criteria.

I chuckled when I read this. I have a KHV and the local repair place said he has a pile of KVH's and Traveler's in the back he has taken off and to get a King Dome. I have a feeling they all have issues, you just have to find which one has the fewest and go with it.

I did check the voltage and it was perfectly fine. The King Dome is known for many issues. The staff or, techs they have are and have not been helpful in most cases. Only once in a while is someone satisfied with the tech help when addressing King Dome problems. My son works at a local RV Service Center here in San Diego and they have a "Pile" of King Domes that have been removed due to malfunctions of many types. They install the Traveler about 99.9999% of the time and it's always right on.

We bought our coach, an '04 Itasca Horizon 36GD with the 330 CAT about 2 years ago and, about 6 months after that, we acquired a Direct TV receiver and, hooked it up to the King Dome. Then, when the graph starts to move and turn green, and the beeps get faster and faster, and, when you think it's reached its highest percentage of reception, reach up and push the off button to off". Then, put the TV screen on regular tuning and it will bring in the channels, as normal. It works flawless that way. It's like having an "automatic and manual" satellite system in one. Hope this helps some.

I was told , when mine did this , that the power supply voltage in low. The detector for the signal is voltage critical and if voltage is slightly low it will not lock-on to the satellite. I never got to check this out before I traded the 5er.

If low voltages is the problem, I would first check the connections it the dish. Also while there you could put a meter on the end of the cable and see what dc voltage you have and whether it meets the requirement which I believe should vary between 12 & 18 volts.
