Satellite radio check antenna warning

My new Winnebago has Satellite Radio. I transferred my account and from time to time for a few minutes it works but then up comes a CHECK ANTENNA notification and no signal. The coach is new 2016 with lots of digital systems. Wonder if there is an easy way to check antenna.

  • Two days of driving since tie wrap repair and XM radio is working perfectly.

I had the same problem with our 2016 Sightseer 33C. I could not access the back of the radio without taking the dash apart. We were taking a shake down cruise prior to returning for warranty fixes.

I removed the heater vent and disconnected the heater duct hose to gain access to the back of the radio. I felt around and discovered that the satellite antenna connection was in the proper hole but not fully seated. I pushed it in fully seating it. It has worked fine since then.

I had my dealer double check the radio in a warranty visit and they said that everything checked out. JD

Update. What I thought was the antenna was instead the mike. I once again removed the heater vent and duct and I found the black box. I have secured the antenna with a tie wrap around the box. Tomorrow I will see if this fixes my antenna searching problem.

    Safe travels. JD

  • I have a Itaska Solei 34t. It is in the shop for its one year warranty list of fixes. One was the satellite radio antenna. It would go out and I would tap on the dash and it would start working. Finally went out all the way. Service tech told me the connection came loose and it is not what he called a good set up. He fixed it and tapped the connection so it wont happen again.
  • Stick your head under the dash. There is a little black box tywrapped under there. Check the antenna connection. It is usually right behind the radio and about 1"x 5" long. Had a similar issue with mine but had to replace it because it would not activate.
