How do full timers get Direct TV without a home base? They told us we had to have a home base unit.

You need to talk with somebody who deals with RV users, not the folks who put dishes on houses. As far as DirecTV is concerned, our "home" is a mail service box in Rapid City SD. They did the installation, such as it was, in Wilimington Ohio. And we've done all the paperwork to get "distant networks" so we have access to the off-air networks (ABC, CBS etc) as well.Plus we bought one of the DurecTV Off-Air tuner boxes, so we can add whatever local signals our TV antenna picks up to our DirecTV DVR.al

You need to find somebody at DirecTv that knows about us full timers. Ask for information for DNS. And you will need to get the "Distant Network Service" from DirecTv if you want ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX network stations from your sat dish when you go outside the local station area for your permanent address.

From the looks of this website, someone at DTV must know something about the subject DTV for travelers. I've had a DNS RV account with them for 10 years. Turn it on when I travel and suspend it when I'm home.
