Just got an email from friends in Puerto Vallarta--their Shaw Direct is still working! :C

We had Bell. same issue a while back. Switched to Dish and picture quality is far better.
If it wasn't for Canadian news, I would switch to Dish at home.

We don't use Shaw much in the US but it is our Canadian News lifeline for the 5 months we spend in Mexico every year.

I reallllllly hope this isn't true. I'll have to check with friends down there, see if they still have a signal.

We gave up the battle with Bell. Purchased a DISH receiver & joining their "pay-as-you-go" plan for RV's while we are down south. Works great with or KVH dome dish. RV=dish network & home=Bell.

Talked to three different Shaw customer Service Reps and/or Tec people and they all said the same thing. Service terminated in the US as of May 30th. Cut off by the USA.....assuming FCC. Reduced cost for "Home away from Home" service.

The Company Line is one thing ,the actual results remain to be seen!
I'm not heading South until after Xmas so will have to wait till then to see if the service still works!

I have both Old and New Receivers and LNBF's so should be able to give an intelligent report on what works and what doesn't then.

In the meanwhile I'll just keep an open mind to the situation!

He said the CRTC put too much pressure on shaw just like they did to Bell.

Shaw launched a new satellite for HD channels. It will not be available in the US. The existing sats will work fine.

Shaw still works fine in both the US and Mexico. As far as I can understand Shaw is playing to old Bell Express-vu game. Saying one thing, doing the opposite.
