Just for information, Scan gage/ultra gage keep the computer powered-up even when the engine is turned off. This might be a problem if you dry camp for an extended period. I don't know about the dongle.
My ScanGauge goes dark after a few minutes with the engine off.
Both my scan gauge and my Edge CTS went dark within seconds of turning off the ignition.
I have engine programmer that has LEDs the monitor the ECU state. With a scan gage/ultra gage hooked up and programed, the ECU monitor indicates that the ECU is stilled powered-up. Yes, the display does go blank, and dark, but the programmer indicates the ECU is still using power. I didn't mean to start a debate, just information.
More information. Current draw to maintain Scan Gauge memory when turned off is 2mA. (0.024 watts) IMHOP little effect on boondock time. Probably same as radio. Less than alarms. Good luck.
