When we figure it manually, we ignore the small amount the generator uses. We have an 80gal tank, so when filling 50+ gallons, 1-2 gals from the generator is a small drop in the bucket. We just note GEN in our tracking book to show it was used.
On the SCANGUAGE, you could tweak the fill, but I would try to avoid using the generator on the setup for the MPG function (takes 2 tanks). This way it will calculate the MPG correctly. Most use the fuel usage to calculate the MPG, it just needs to get calibrated so it knows what it's seeing from the vehicles ECM.
Great, good to know on the calibration, thanks! We are about 50/50 on dry camping vs. hooking up, so the genny will get some use with us, at least to re-charge the batteries every few days when no hooked up to shore power. Our fuel tank is 55 gallons, so it might show a little. - shawdowbossExplorerWhen we figure it manually, we ignore the small amount the generator uses. One question that we discussed: is there any sort of accomodation or override for generator use when it figures out MPG since the genny fuel comes from the vehicle fuel tank? (or likewise, how would you manually figure that out of your MPG if you're keeping track on paper?)
Cheers!
