Letting up on the switch without the card seeing that both motors have reached the end of their travel messes up it's mind if you then try to continue to go out again. If you stop mid way, you then need to retract fully and start over.

+1 like it or not yes it is true. We just had ours repaired and the tech was emphatic about it since the motors count revolutions. Hold the switch on either way 5 sec or so to make sure the motors have completely stopped. So say the experts.
