Just to toss in my $0.02 worth... I owned both type of coaches, Ford and the Workhorse. Had the Ford V10/chassis first and the Workhorse second, both were Winnebago coaches. The Workhorse was quicker "off the line", quicker up hills, better handling especially with cross winds, and a lower dog house. There is definitely an advantage to having the Allison transmission vs the Ford transmission. The "huge" GM V8 in the Workhorse configuration tied with the Allison transmission was a great combination. Too bad GM stopped making that engine.
