Wasn't doing the CJ7 and the scooter at the same time. Actual scooter is ~385#. Been doing some searching. I haven't found the standard yet, but the tongue weight is rated at the normal ball location (say 12") and at 24", if proportional, this would reduce to 250# I'm guessing. If the van is rated for 500# then the manufacturer must have decided that weight would not seriously affect the handling. I do think that the 385# may be a little much. The CJ7 wouldn't have any tongue weight and would be under the 5000# tow limit though.
