Sewer Solution

I think there have been a couple people who have used Sewer Solutions with "B"s to good effect. It requires a lot of water from a hose to use, but gives similar results. The best is a built in macerator pump, but the Sewer Solution does similar, provided ready access to a hose and water.

Exactly what mlts22 said. I think I would prefer the macerator (they make portable units) over the sewer solution.

Thanks Ianerd and Metaphor - The reason I'm looking for a unit that doesn't need "installing" like a regular macerator is the cost. That is why the Sewer Solution appeals to me. I can do this myself without much investment. I have seen the video a couple of times and it really looks great. I can't see too much of a problem with getting water at the dump station for the garden hose.....our local park has two available. I am mainly interested in seeing some actual hook-ups that show it connected to my specific 2004 Roadtrek. My husband always struggled with the dumping and I helped him, so I know it's because the RT is so low and has to pump over the curb. He always had to "milk" it until every last drop was out of the hose or it wouldn't go back into the tube so the cotter pin could be put back in place. For me, with a knee replacement, it is a problem. Thank you both very much for your input.

I used one for years before I changed to a macerator pump, but not on a roadtrek.
a macerator can be a portable unit similar to a sewer solution. probably $150 more but well worth it IMHO. it is a one time purchase. don't plan on using the sewer solution at a public dump, get a full hook up site every 3rd day or when needed and dump at your convenience.
you can also make your own SS.

We have used a sewer solution for years and have not had any problems. We have a class A but I don't think that makes any different's. It does dump the black tank slow but rarely do I have too hook a water hose to it to help it dump. One of the best things I brought for the RV. It sure is better then the stinky slinky!

well I am not wantabe but you need one hose, a dedicated non-potable water one, to hook up to the Sewer Solution along with your standard white one for potable water.
one reason I stopped using my SS and went to the macerator was that I broke the "clips" or hooks or whatever they are called on the SS off. I think they may have improved the strength of them by now but I think if I was to use one again I would get a short clear plastic extension and just silicone seal it to the SS and put the on/off pressure on the replaceable extension, not on the SS clips.
since I had a black tank sprayer I put a wye in the supply to the SS and to the sprayer and alternated between flushing/spraying/emptying, etc.

There is another reason I like a macerator pump. I can empty the black tank, then pull the gate valve on the grey tank. This will backflush the black in no time flat. After closing the grey tank valve, I can empty the black tank again, then the remnants (about half the grey) to clan out the hose.

I've yet to bother with a tank backflush with this method. Instead, I just fill the tanks up and empty if I need to do something.
