I wouldn't do that in a motorhome, especially an Allegro Bus! Think about the "what if" scenario...you want to trade or sell someday and someday you will. Redoing it back to original is doable but not fun or easy. It's not the value that will be lost it's the incentive for someone to buy that doesn't want that interior and would want to refinish it. I know we all want to do what we want in our decors but..in a rolling house that will have a life after you quit traveling...That fine cherry finished painted...I personally would not do it nor buy a rig that had been redone that way...a big deal breaker for me.
If you are tired of the decor then find a way to add soft furnishings to change the look a bit.
On the lighter side...if she does shabby chic in the bedroom then tell her you are repainting your "den" up front to your favorite sports team colors! Simply put..find a way to make the whole rig homey but not homely!
I look at it this way...the bedroom may be someones retreat to nap, read or watch TV but mostly...we spend our time asleep in there so for me it would not be worth painting it.
I agree the Shabby Chic trend has about run its course but if you still love it add a few of those elements without redoing the cabinets.
