Shabby Chic interior decor

The natural cherry wood in our coach is very nice, but there is a lot of it and after 7 years of looking at it we are considering a change. My wife wants to do "shabby chic" in the bedroom and bathroom. That is very popular now (ask your wife). She has done a few rooms in our home in that decor and it looks nice. It does require painting over the woodwork. You then "knock it down" in areas to reveal the original wood. This would be done tastefully and professionally. Google "shabby chic" for examples.

My question is...how might this effect the resale value? On an eight year old coach would it really matter?

    Various "styles" have come and gone throughout the years. The ONE that seems to return time after time is natural wood kitchen cabinets. The other designs come and go and are usually just popular to a small percentage of the population. I would stick with the natural wood cabinets IF resale value is your major concern.
    That said, it is your coach and your wallet, and like most of us, you make changes to suit your own needs and could care less about what others think as long as it makes us happy.

    Kinda like the "Mediterranean" styled furniture of the 70's, sold great then. Couldn't give the stuff away to a college student in the 80's

    I would not do it. I prefer the original look for the RV. If I looked at a unit that was altered too much I would probably walk away. JMO

    But, it is your unit and your choice. Do what makes you happy.

    Maybe you can talk to some dealers and see what they say about your proposed modifications to the interior?

    Agree with Genecop. But are you thinking of selling in the near future? In that case, keep things as they are. If you are keeping it long term, do whatever you want.

    It's already 8 years old so it has depreciated 60 % at least.....let your wife do what makes her happy....what the real downside......10-20 thousand less to leave the kids......be happy....
