If your aluminum is dull and needs a shine and wax doesn't do it for more than a week or so, try redmax. It does work on painted metal so it should work on aluminum.
Yes wash it really well first. Any dirt or scrapes will show through the RMP and not rinsing well enough may cause the finish to peel.
I used it over the graphics and I thought it helped keep them from flaking more. The graphics look pretty bad on ours and did before I tried RMP. I don't think redmax has a bad effect on graphics but bacabunch seems to have had his flake even with the finish over them.
