Shock Replacement - Any Experience with these?

I just picked up the moho from our chassis repair facility. I chatted with the mechanic about replacing the OEM shocks on our 2005 rig.
I mentioned Bilsteins and he said he could get those but he recommended going with KYB's (Gas-a-Just model). In his opinion they were right up there with Bilsteins in performance.

I've never heard of them.
Does anyone have any knowledge and/or experience with these?
  • According to their website the gas-adjusts are a monotube design.....not twin tubes.
  • I will never own KYBs again. Last time I bought them they failed before putting any miles on the car. Literally blew the seals with oil spilling all over the floor. They fully warrantied them twice. Bilsteins just work.
  • I've installed KYBs on my daily driver. Nothing fancy, no adjust or anything, but not a bad shock.
  • I've used KYBs in the past and they work well, but a Gas-A-Just is a twin tube lower end shock, where a Bilstein is a monotube higher end shock. Bilstein will be the better shock. Whether it rides better or not depends on your opinion and desired outcome.

No experience with motorhomes, but most KYBs I'ves used were a little firm in compression and loose in rebound, making the ride a little more bouncy than the "euro-firm" feel of a Bilstein.
