I am looking at changing my shocks on my 2002 Gulf stream Conquest. Anyone have suggestions on the job and or the better brand of shocks to use.:@

  • Like others here , haven't compared the two brands side by side , yes other MH's but still different.
I put Bilsteins on my 2001 Gulfstream Conquest and it was night and day difference.
So when we got our 2005 FW 5000 I went with the Bilsteins again and later put a rear sway bar and again night and day difference !

Never have dealt with or used the Koni's so can't comment on them...

Not sure how long your Conquest is ? Ours was the sport and 23ft long.
  • Well, I had Bilsteins on my class C built on a Chevy G/P-30 Chassis and Koni FSD shocks on our class A (W-22) chassis and we absolutely loved the Koni FSD shocks. If I had a class C and could either replace the original shocks with Bilsteins or Konis, I would most likely pay the extra bucks for the Koni FSD shocks! bags.
  • Koni FSD- difference in handling worth every penny they cost. If I were going Bilstein, I'd go with the HD model over the Comfort model.
  • Koni FSD are without a doubt the best shock made for a class A coach. I have upgraded to them on all three of the coaches we have had. The difference in ride is worth every penny they cost.

  • I would second Bilsteins, great ride and stability.

The best price for them is E shocks This company has been around for a long time and customer service is outstanding, any questions at all they will help you out.
  • Koni ( If available for your rig; not cheap } then Bilsteins. . .
  • I changed shocks a couple of years ago on my 2008 Winnebago Outlook with Bilsteins. I have been very pleased with the handling. I also replaced the steering dampner with a Bilstein dampner. Some folks say Koni's are best but I am satisfied with Bilsteins.
