SHOULD THE TOP OF MY CONVERTER BOX GET TO HOT TO TOUCH?

WIFE SAYS SHE SMELLS SOME THING HOT, i PULLED THE WOODEN COVER OFF THE TOP OF THE BOX WHERE CONVERTER AND CHARGER ARE , AND THE FRONT COVER, ,NOTE TWO LITTLE FANS ARE NOT RUNNING,GAVE THEM A SPIN ,NO RUN. BUT TOUCHING THINGS THE TOP OF MY CONVERTER BOX IS TO HOT TO TOUCH. FELT ALL WIRES IN THE AREA NONE HOT TO THE TOUCH. IT IS A pd 4655 CONVERTER INSTALLED FEW YEARS BACK.ANY HELP APPR.

    opened cover over the breaker panel, the wires are burnt, time to take it to camper care. thanks more than I can handle.

    If you turn on all the lights do the fans run? What is the battery voltage?

    sorry just noticed I did that. something to add I ran the ac unit for an hour in the garage ,looking for the smell.both doors open about 80,deg out side cooler in the garage.
